Our competition entry for a new visitor centre set in a rejuvenated Fens landscape, designed in collaboration with Denizen Works and Farrer Huxley Associates Landscape Design.
The main public activities are organised within a long vaulted room; a grand space but one which retains a welcoming, domestic character. A timber trellis tower marks the entrance and also gives the building a recognisable silhouette from far across the Fens.
A sheltered outdoor room and event space on the roof of the building provides views to the surrounding landscape. Within this rooftop space habitat samples and exhibition content can be arranged.
