The new extension took the form of a compact, glazed pavilion with a triangulated, hipped-roof that rises up to a central peak on the waterfront. The designs have improved accessibility, provide better visual connections and enhanced the environmental performance of the existing structure.
The refurbishment of the building transformed a series of dark and uninsulated rooms into a warm, accessible and welcoming space, that provides views out to the activities on the water. The project was shortlisted for a 2017, RIAS Building of the Year Award.
